My 'Pick of the Month' for June is The Relatives Came by Cynthia Rylant. Stephen Gammell is the illustrator. I chose this book because of the memories it conjures up for me; the warm feelings that come to the surface of my mind. Cynthia writes, "They drove all day long and into the night." She continues a couple of pages later saying, "...pulling us against their wrinkled Virginia clothes, crying sometimes. They hugged us for hours."
No one's life is perfect, but if reading words like these causes you to smile as you remember wonderful, warm feelings from when your relatives came, then just take a minute to thank God for giving you those beautiful memories; the warm times; those wonderful relatives. You are blessed, my friend!
